A window shutter is normally a stable window covering which usually will have horizontal and vertical rails as a frame. There are different types of shutters available throughout the world. They are Interior Shutters and exterior shutters. Normally the purpose of exterior shutter is to ensure protection against exterior elements, light. But mostly these exterior shutters are constructed in order to ensure privacy. Usually exterior shutters are constructed outside the building structure. There are certain exterior shutters called functional shutters which can be constructed at any side of the window either at the top or at any side and can be opened or closed whenever it is necessary. French type exterior shutters ensure protection against light, other extraneous disturbances and as well as allows the air to enter into the room. Exterior hurricane shutters are constructed in order to provide protection against storm, high winds, etc. They can be made of aluminum, wood or any other high resistant plastic. Nowadays Fibreglasses are considered to be used in composite exterior shutters. But before buying or installing exterior shutters one should check whether their building or window is suitable to install. PVC shutters require additional hardware for installation and it provides protection against direct sunlight.
