PostcardPostcard is a rectangular piece of thick paper or thin cardboard intended to be written on and mailed without an envelope. The word comes from the post card office system, use to be a piece of paper with images and send without an envelope, send to a person with a message. A postcard is used during trips or vacations. In internet there are free virtual postcards with different themes, sounds and some even are animated.

Today, Art postcards are replacing traditional postcards at ever-increasing rates as a way to send mementos to family and friends. Today, the rise of the Internet and websites that harness the power of digital technology make it easier than ever to create and then mail out an art postcard, which in this case means any depiction or photo that is intended as art by the person mailing it out. As a leap forward in traditional postcards, many of these new types certainly will be more effective than the kinds of postcards chosen from a souvenir store that hundreds or even thousands of other people have sent out in the past and will send out in the future. Create art from anything, including your own picture taken of the Grand Canyon, and then go through a website to turn it into a nice-looking postcard. Such an art postcard would have all of the traditional attributes that any postcard has, including mailing information and a box for some small amount of writing but it instead would be showing off the talent and skill of view or an artist in a way that is very personal. This can certainly be much more attractive when it comes to sharing a memento or capturing a moment and sending it to others. Post Card

An art postcard is nothing more than a postcard that would be considered — in and of itself — to be art. So why not design custom postcards as art postcards? It was once said by somebody famous that he really didn’t know what the definition for art was but that he sure would know it when he viewed it. This is just as true today as it was back when this saying first became famous.

Nowadays, there are a number of quality websites that dedicate themselves to helping a person create and then mail out such postcards. Normally, all that’s usually needed to find websites that are dedicated to art postcards is to just had online and then use a search engine to find them. Enter in a phrase such as” creating art postcard mailings” and go through the results. The best websites all have a way to select a range of options including the style of the art — meaning it could be minimalist or abstract or just about any other sort of style — or even the country or subject (historical, mythological etc.) and then a way to create the art postcard and even have it delivered or mailed separately. Aspiring or working artist today can even make use of these websites to feature their own art in a way that enables it to be made into a postcard. They can design and create an image and then allow users to select it, which can be a fantastic way to get their names and art out into the public consciousness.

Given all this, it would seem to make perfect sense that art postcards are replacing traditional postcards as a way to send a personalized and elegant memento or greeting to some other person or persons. After all, who wouldn’t like something beautiful and personalized rather than something that comes out of a souvenir shop and in which a million other souvenir shops are also selling the same card? It’s a sure bet that family or friends would go with the first option.

Roku HD1000 Digital Media Player
We found that the HD1000 can natively play back MPEG-2 transport streams. (According to Roku, that’s the data packaging format used for over-the-air digital television transmission.) We were able to find several brief transport stream clips, which can be created using an HD PVR solution like MyHD, and these files carry a .TS file extension. The HD1000 did a very good job with this content — one 720p clip we came across looked fantastic on the Gateway HDTV monitor we used for this testing. Standard-definition content looks good, but brings with it the usual artifacts: noise, line aliasing, and occasional interlacing.
We also downloaded an app that can transcode a decrypted VOB from a DVD into an MPEG-2 transport stream that the HD1000 can then playback. By the author’s own admission, the app is currently in an alpha development state, and still had plenty of rough edges. We ripped several VOB files from The Matrix, played those on the HD1000, and the image quality was basically solid. However, the A/V sync often fell apart, making The Matrix seem like a badly dubbed Hong Kong kung fu movie. There were also periodic hiccups in the playback, where 2-3 seconds would loop a dozen or so times over before the scene would move forward. Again, it was alpha code — something both the developer and Roku were very clear about.
Given the Xilleon 220 processor’s capabilities, we’re left to wonder why Roku, a company founded by veterans of a PVR company (ReplayTV), would ship the product without video features in place. The DMA market has gotten very crowded, and for the garden-variety audio/video/digital photos at standard-definition type player, the race to the bottom on pricing has already begun. Roku’s main selling point is its high-definition support and image/video quality. Having its video features more fleshed out would have made it the clear choice for anyone wanting to view their photos and video in HD.
Photo image quality on photos with sufficient pixel resolution (at least 1024×768) is stunning, and the HD1000 effectively turns your HD display into a picture frame or canvas. ROKU Digital Video Player offers Art Packs, CompactFlash cards that contain high-definition still images and MPEG movie loops. The still image collections currently include Nature and Classic Art. There’s also an aquarium MPEG loop that resembles the Sachs Aquarium screen saver that turns your display into an HD fish tank, and in the Nature Art Pack there’s an MPEG loop of a mountain where the water on the lake in front of it ripples.

Web

Hi guys! Let me share some awesome topics on internet. Have a look!!

What is a Web directory? Although the terms search engine and subject directory are sometimes used interchangeably, they are not the same thing.

How a Web Directory Works
A Web directory organizes Web sites by subject, and is usually maintained by humans instead of software. The searcher looks at sites organized in a series of categories and menus. Web directories are usually much smaller than search engines’ databases, since the sites are looked at by human eyes instead of by spiders.
There are two ways for sites to be included in a Web directory’s listings; either the site owner can submit the site to the Web directory, or the directory’s editor(s) will eventually come across that site.

How to Search a Web Directory
1. The searcher types a query into the Web directory, or searches the Web directory’s indexed categories.
2. The Web directory matches the searcher’s query with relevant data from its index.

PRA Business web directory is a website listing of information which lists all businesses within some category. Businesses can be categorized by business, location, activity, or size. Business may be compiled either manually or through automated online search software. The details provided in a business directory will vary. They may include the business name, addresses, telephone numbers, location, type of service or products the business provides, number of employees, the service region and any professional associations. Some directories include a section for user reviews, comments, and feedback.
Many business directories offer complimentary listings in addition to the premium options. There are many business directories and some of these have moved over to the internet and away from printed format. Whilst not being search engines, business directories often have a search facility. There is a balance between professional advertising, value for money and quality of service. Business owners are looking for ROI, web traffic, exposure for their business, plus SEO benefits of backlinks. There are multitudes of online directories, and plenty will also give free links.

Page rank is ranking software that calculates the relevance of a webpage to the search keywords entered. The software analyses both the number of incoming links and the ‘quality’ of the referring webpage to generate a relative measurement between 0 (low-relevance) and 10 (high-relevance). (The ‘quality’ of the referring webpage is an abstract measure of how authoritative it is on the subject matter.) Page Rank is displayed as a green bar to the left of a webpage. Generally speaking pages with a higher page rank will be returned before those with lower page ranks on the search engine’s results page (cf SERP). A high Page Rank is therefore highly desirable. Page Rank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value.

Importance of Page Rank
Page Rank is very useful because it is one of the secrets to getting listed in Google in under 20. Seeing that the #1 ranked website for this keyword only has a Page Rank of 5 is also good news for us, because a Page Rank of 5 should be reasonable to obtain. Remember, the ONLY way to increase our website’s Page Rank is by getting other websites to link to us.

Way to achieve a Page Rank of 4 or better
You can add or submit your site to the website directories like us because there’s a Major Power in submitting your website to Web Directories! Besides, you must participate in link exchanges with other websites. But remember… There are still many factors that influence your site’spagerank such as: keywords, contents, designs, site uptime, etc.

Strategic planning is a process that does not change regardless of your position in the organisation hierarchy. The only thing that changes as you move through the organisational hierarchy is the frequency of strategic thought and the level of formality or documentation applied to the strategic planning process.
There is also an increase in the level of risk associated with your strategic decisions, the more senior you are the more risk you are taking.

The ultimate goal of strategic planning is to be able to act effectively in a changing environment.

Strategic Planning requires clarity in seeing both the existing situation, and the future potential. It also requires the ability to clearly assess all possible impacts of a strategic decision.
To plan for the next phase of your business, a very clear understanding of your organisation’s strengths and weaknesses is important. You must be able to identify the market niches in which you are most likely to succeed. This is where a strategic review could play a role – a trusted business advisor assisting you and providing an external perspective could be particularly helpful.
Simplified Strategic Planning Review
Strategy is one of those words that nearly everyone feels obliged to use but it’s often difficult to put a finger on what it means theoretically when you are in the process of thinking or doing strategic planning.

It is harder to see effective strategy in action as too many businesses which have gone to the time and trouble of preparing a strategic plan, don’t put into action effectively.
STRATEGIC REVIEWS
“Success is a product of unremitting attention to purpose”
Benjamin Disraeli
Strategic Reviews help companies diagnose poor performance and formulate strategy. They provide a basis for improvement and act as a catalyst for evaluating new markets and potential acquisitions.
At a high level, strategic reviews can:
• identify areas of competitive advantage
• identify profitability and potential
• track the interdependencies between various parts of a business
DEVELOPING THE STRATEGIC PLAN
“A plan is nothing…planning is everything”
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Strategic planning focuses on what your company should do, rather than how it should be done. All the energy, drive and determination in the world will never compensate for an inappropriate strategy. Without effective strategies, a business is likely to fail.
Here at Private Client Services we ask you some really important questions:
• Where do you want to be in five years? Ten years?
• What are the options or alternatives available to you in the pursuit of your vision?
• What are the most appropriate action plans to ensure your vision is realised?
• What are the most appropriate relationships with potential business partners?
• How are you going to manage growth?
• What is the most appropriate trading / ownership approach for you and what will be the governance and administration requirements?
• What risks will you face, and how can these be effectively managed?
• What processes will best manage your people and management information resources to lessen dependence on you personally and, over time, assist in increasing both the capital value and the profitability of the business?
As an impartial and knowledgeable sounding board, we can assess your business and ensure your business model is aligned to meet your overall objectives.
BUSINESS AND OPERATIONAL PLANNING
Formal business planning has an important role in maximising the performance of the business. Benefits we believe will be achieved from the planning process include:
• Focusing management on the business as a whole
• Setting achievable and measurable objectives
• Providing a route to be followed through agreed strategy
• Providing accountability for performance
• Providing a framework for determining priorities and allocating resources
• Protecting current business, whilst maximising business growth opportunities and performance
• Being proactive in relation to the future of the business
• Providing a platform for presenting the business to other parties, particularly potential funding parties
• Motivating and renews entrepreneurial instincts.

MicroSoftMicrosoft has failed in its attempt to dismiss a court case that would stop it selling Word. The software giant appealed against a ruling which found it infringed a patent owned by Canadian company i4i. With the failure of the appeal Microsoft must now pay i4i damages of $290m (£182m) and comply with an injunction ending the sales of some versions of Word. The injunction is scheduled to go into effect on 11 January.
Microsoft said the ban would prohibit the sale of all available versions of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office software from the date that the injunction comes into force. Versions of the software sold before that date, including Word 2003 and Word 2007, will not be hit by the ruling. “We have been preparing for this possibility since the District Court issued its injunction in August 2009 and have put the wheels in motion to remove this little-used feature from these products,” Microsoft said. “Therefore, we expect to have copies of Microsoft Word 2007 and Office 2007, with this feature removed, available for US sale and distribution by the injunction date,” it said. “Beta versions of Microsoft Word 2010 and Microsoft Office 2010, which are available now for downloading, do not contain the technology covered by the injunction,” Microsoft added. Microsoft was accused by i4i of infringing on a 1998 XML patent in its Word 2003 and Word 2007 programs.
Word uses XML, or the Extensible Markup Language, to open .XML, .DOCX, and .DOCM files. The initial ruling in the court dispute between i4i and Microsoft was made in August. At that time Microsoft was found to have infringed the i4i patent and the Canadian firm was awarded damages. The injunction on sales was imposed at the same time but a Microsoft appeal initially overturned that ban on US sales. The stay on the injunction has now run out and, as a result, Microsoft must stop selling infringing versions of Word. Microsoft said it might file further appeals, but that it was keen to comply with the injunction. “While we are moving quickly to address the injunction issue, we are also considering our legal options,” it said.

Richest PeopleDid you ever wonder how the richest people in the world became that rich? Truthfully, many of those people inherited their wealth. However, it is doubtful that you have a relative of which you are unaware that is worth billions of dollars. As such, you are going to have to acquire your riches the traditional way. This means that you are going to have to work for and create your own wealth.
Creating your own wealth is not a necessarily a bad thing because many people have travelled this route in order to become financially secure. Additionally, if you make enough money, when your time on earth has come to an end, you will be able to leave something for your family so that they will not have to work as hard as you did to acquire wealth.
A common theme that many of the world’s richest people share (excluding people that inherited their wealth) is that their money was acquired as a result of their own business or their own investments. In other words, these people did not achieve their wealth by working for somebody else. As such, unless you possess some secret way to make money by being an employee, you are probably not going to become rich by working for somebody else. Therefore, if you want to have a chance to join the ranks of the world’s richest people, you are going to have to create your own business and/or invest your money in profitable ways. It is also important to note that there is no correlation as to when these people became incredibly wealthy. People that are in their twenties all the way up to people over seventy are on the list among the richest people in the world. As such, there is no deadline that you have to meet (except for one that you set for yourself) regarding your version of success. As such, if your wealth takes a little longer to establish than originally planned, you should not worry about it.
Regardless of your background (whether financial or educational) you have the ability to make as much money as you want. The list of the wealthiest people in the world is an incredibly diverse list. As such, do not let your personal battles discourage you from trying to obtain your dreams.

Compliment slips add a dash of personalisation and notes while corresponding with valued clients, customers or business associates. These slips are roomier than business cards in terms of containing contact information, clarifications or a formal note. Likewise, these slips are more compact and concise than letterheads to be attached to other business documents. The fundamental of compliment slips are to communicate acknowledgements for sending payments, placing orders etc.

Compliment slips are one third of the size of the A4 sheet of paper. This size of a compliment slip lets it easily slipped into a DL sized envelope. Due to the petite size of a compliment slip, it can be clipped upon a letter, a brochure or a flyer without obscuring the content of the document. Moreover, these slips convey acknowledgement messages that work as a small and sincere preface to the actual document. No wonder why contemporary entrepreneurs put so much stress on integrating these little pieces of printed materials to their business correspondence.

Compliment slips are a lot of ways can work parallel to business cards as they contain contact details of a company in the same way of a business card without personalising any specific employee. These slips carry resemblance to other business materials being made of same paper stock and due to inclusion of the similar graphics, image, logo, colour, font etc., like letterheads, envelopes, business cards etc. That’s why these slips have significant branding potential like a letterhead, an envelope, a business card etc. that spread the business image.

With a small note of thanks a compliment slip can help you enhance business relations. Business relations progress a lot with mutual recognition and acceptance in response to exchanging of service and payments. These slips accompany voucher or invoice, tickets when sending them to valuable client/customer. When attached to a brochure, these compliment slips act as a ‘sweet reminder’ about the services or products that were discussed with that prospect. The handwritten note on the compliment slips takes off the business relations to a formal yet personal level without compromising the business image.

GemsChristmas sales have brought sheen back to Indian gems and jewellery units with exports growing by about 55 per cent at $2.1 billion in November 2009 compared with the same period last year.
“We have got good orders for the festive season from western markets like the US and the EU,” Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Chairman Basant Mehta said.
However, in April-November 2009, exports fell 1.02 per cent to $17.62 billion compared to the same period last fiscal, according to GJEPC data. Segments like coloured gemstones
and gold jewellery fell 20 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively. However, cut and polished diamonds registered healthy growth of 122 per cent. The exporters hoped the positive trend would continue, as there are signs of recovery in various economies resulting in improvement in inventories. The UAE is the main destination for India’s gems and jewellery, accounting for 31 per cent of the total exports, followed by Hong Kong and the US.

ACIn general sense, air conditioning refers to any form of cooling, heating, ventilation or disinfection, which changes the condition of air. But more commonly, the word air conditioning is used for cooling and removing moisture from indoor air. In general, air conditioner is an apparatus, used for controlling the temperature and humidity of an enclosed area. Air conditioners have been manufactured since many previous years, but the quality was not much better. With the passage of time, the quality got better and better. The first modern electric air conditioner was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier in 1902.
Today, high-quality and more reliable air conditioners are being manufactured by many companies. Now-a-days Air conditioner is being used in almost every shopping mall, houses and hospitals. The air conditioner is also used in science laboratories to maintain the temperature to required needs. The air conditioner is becoming an essential need for the people who live in hot areas, because the temperature in such areas in the summer season rises very high. To get air conditioning with the help of a machine is a modern invention, but the cooling of a building is a not a modern way. The Romans were known to be the people who circulate water through the walls of the buildings and homes in order to cool them. This procedure was expensive and only the rich ones could only afford such procedure of luxury. An air compressor increases the amount of air in a particular space. By packing in the air, the air pressure is increased which creates a force that is useful for a variety of purposes, from industrial and manufacturing to commercial and personal purposes. The original air conditioning compressor is the lung. When you take a deep breath to blow out your birthday candles, for example, you’re increasing the pressure of the air in your lungs, which effectively is an air compressor containing pressurized air. You then use the force of the air in your lungs to blow out the flames of your birthday candles.
Another way to group air compressor types is by the number of stages it has. A two-stage air compressor is usually used for heavy duty use. This type of unit offers a higher level of compression than smaller, single stage air compressors. A two-stage air compressor can store air for future use, and is more energy efficient since it produces more air per unit of horsepower than a single stage compressor. Also, less heat is generated in a two-stage compressor, which means that wear on the unit is reduced. Portable electric air compressors are also available for light-duty applications. Depending on the type of air compressor, operation costs can be high, as in the case of plant maintenance. While air compressors can run on manual labor, like a hand powered air compressors, most run on either electricity or natural gas. It’s the natural gas air compressor that is usually more cost-effective. If the air compressor is used in a small, enclosed area, an electric model may be more desirable in order to avoid gas fumes. There were so many other ways, used to get fresh and cool air which is now called as air conditioning. Window towers and cisterns were also used to cool buildings and homes. Cisterns were the large open pools in the middle square. At that time, the underground tanks were not used. These cisterns have the collected rain water in them. The window towers had windows and these were made to catch the wind and the internal vanes were made to direct the airflow down into the building. The British are the ones who had invented the most modern machine. Michael Faraday, who was an inventor and scientist, discovered in 1820, that liquefying and compressing ammonia could really chill the air when it was allowed to evaporate. Then with the passage of time, there was a lot of development and modernization in the technology. More new technology was invented and used in order to really create something that could really solve the problem of air conditioning. There are a lot of different types of air conditioning applications, which are used to keep the environment of the room very friendly and cool. An air conditioning system can really make the building or room, a comfortable and cool place to live in. Comfort makes the buildings feasible. Air conditioning is really a very good idea to get cool air and keep you fresh and comfortable in the hot season. A lot of air conditioning products are available in the markets and online as well.

imagesAmazing video has been obtained in the Pacific Ocean of the deepest undersea eruption ever recorded. The pictures show lavas bursting into the water at the West Mata submarine volcano, which is sited about 200km (125 miles) south-west of the Samoas. The US Jason robotic submersible had to descend over 1,100m to acquire the high-definition video. The vehicle found microbes and a specialized volcano-dwelling shrimp thriving in hot, acidic waters. “It’s an extraordinary environment,” said Joseph Resing, a chemical oceanographer at the University of Washington and the Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean in Seattle, US. “You have molten lavas at 1,400C producing acidic fluids – the sulphur dioxide makes these fluids as acidic as pH1.4 – and yet microbes are thriving,” he told BBC News.
“The magmatic gases sustain and provide energy for microbial life, and then the microbes provide energy for the shrimp.”We see them very close to the volcano – within metres.” Dr Resing has been describing the volcano’s behaviour here at the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Fall Meeting, the world’s largest annual gathering of Earth scientists.

Rock recycling
The West Mata submarine volcano is about 9km long and 6km wide. The base is some 3km down.

Its setting is very close to the 10,000m-deep Tonga-Kermadec Trench. This is where the Pacific Tectonic Plate, which comprises much of the central ocean floor, dives under (subducted) the Australian Plate. It is a key location for the recycling of rock back into the interior of the Earth and it is where molten material can also then force its way back up to the surface. The possible existence of the eruption was first identified in November 2008 through water samples recovered from the ocean that contained anomalously high levels of hydrogen and volcanic debris. But it was not until a full scale expedition took place in May this year and Jason was able to go down and investigate West Mata that scientists realised the magnificence of the discovery.

Lava flows
Jason, which is operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), moved to within 3m of the erupting volcano. The vehicle’s high-definition camera captured large molten lava bubbles about a metre across bursting into cold seawater, and it saw glowing red vents explosively ejecting lava into the sea. It is said to be the first-observed advance of lava flows across the deep-ocean sea floor. Jason’s two robotic arms collected samples of rocks, hot spring waters, the microbes, and the shrimp. To find and study animal life in such a location was fascinating, said Tim Shank, a WHOI macro-biologist on the expedition. “The animal life you see down there has evolved over millions of years to take advantage of the situation. Virtually every species down on the sea floor at vents has some sort of novel adaptation,” he told reporters at the AGU meeting.
“Shrimp have modified eye forms, and modified claws to enable them to scrape certain types of bacteria. This is where fundamental planetary processes like eruptions meet life, so it has profound implications for me as a biologist looking at the evolution of life on this planet.” Researchers say the volcano is spewing boninite lavas, believed to be among the hottest erupting on Earth in modern times, and a type only seen before on extinct volcanoes older than a million years. “Having a very fresh occurrence – it hasn’t been altered by the ravages of time – and having a known date of eruption gives us the ability to study many different aspects of the rock, including radioactive tracers which will give us the rates of these processes – i.e. how long it takes for this recycling [at subduction zones] to occur.” The West Mata expedition was funded by the US National Science Foundation and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
