The samurai used various weapons, but the katana is the weapon that is synonymous with samurai. Everyone in the world knows about alphabets which are a series of letter used in writing a language. Most books, magazines and newspapers use the 26 letter alphabet called the Roman alphabet. They had no way to keep track of important events, though. They had no good way of communicating over long distances. The 1st stage was the drawing of the pictures. The pictures allowed people who did not speak the same language to share ideas. The people use sign stand for words. For example, a person who wanted to show five cows could draw one sign for numerical “five” and one sign for “sheep”.

Overtime, people used a system of writing in which a sign that stood for one word could be used for other words that sounded like that word. For example, a person might draw the sign for the word “bee” and the sign for the word “leaf”. This would stand for the word “belief”. Finally, people developed alphabets in which certain signs stood for certain sounds. Today most written languages use an alphabet.
